Yet another Koirala sneaks into India

Sunday, 13 February , 2005, 18:31

New Delhi: After former Nepal prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala?s daughter Sujatha, it was the turn of his nephew, Shekhar, to sneak into India.

Shekhar Koirala, reaching Delhi from Koirala?s hometown Viratnagar, near Indo-Nepal border town Jogbani, told PTI that the people ?are feeling scared and insecure."

However, he said he planned to go back to Nepal soon to organise people against King Gyanendra.

"I won?t stay here for long. I want to go back to Nepal as soon as possible. I feel that I should be there. Most of the people had not experienced such atrocities like what happened during the 1960 onslaught on democracy," Sekhar, son of G P Koirala?s younger brother Keshav, said.

"There is an overwhelming presence of police and intelligence personnel everywhere which disturbs everyday life," Shekhar, also a prominent Nepal Congress leader, said.

He said three working committee members of the Nepal Congress were planning to cross over to India in the coming days.

"The people are shaken and shocked. We need to boost their morale and convince them for fighting," he added.

There ?is nothing great in simply getting arrested," he said adding, "The situation is getting worse and it is becoming difficult to operate from Nepal."
