http://download.openoffice.org/index.html Please use open office to download MS Office Suite. If you want more software please install Ubuntu by installing some VMware http://www.ubuntu.com/GetUbuntu/download u can get all software for free. I like the Mac hardware and Ubuntu software so if you get the combination then I think u won't have any problems

If you aren't doing anything that requires a lot of processing power (including having a ridiculous amount of programs running at the same time), Acer aspire 5532 is awesome. It's biggest selling point is its price. It has great specs but only a single core processor. At just over $300 you can't go wrong. It's gotten good reviews and even if something were to happen to it, it's cheap so it won't be the end of the world.
Personally, I would go for a mac if I was spending more than a few hundred bucks.
