Khabardar, the very line you wrote has urdu words in it.... "Dil" is very much a urdu word.. The chaste Hindi word for heart would be "mann" or "hridaya" .... Though "kalam" is Urdu too, I am not sure if Hindi has an exact word for pencil...
I do not know if anyone here a Talat Mahmood fan. This one I love it; the way he sings with kind of vibrating vocal cord. Amazing !

My little sister who's back home in Nepal used to ask me to sing that song to put her to sleep ...it was like a lullaby to her .....it's such a soothing melody...sigh! i miss her ... :-(

Male bhanna khojyaa " foolo ki ranga se" ke bhane yo Chase Hindi maa lekhiyeko pahilo geet ho , Urdu sabda ko prayog nagari bhanyaa. But Mokshya pointed out two words, "Dil" AND "Kalam". These words are accepted as Hindi although they are Urdu. But the point is the song does not have that many Urdu words as in other songs. I think same is the case with "DHIRE SE JAANAA BAGIYAAN ME, HO BHAWARAA DHIRE SE JAANAA BAGIYANA ME" I may be wrong!!
I don't know whether to thank you or curse you but since you mentioned the song "saathi na koi manzil", I am totally lost... it is almost two days now I have been humming that song day in and day out, at home, at work, while driving, eating. Frankly, I have been crying, reminiscing, yearning for those good old days. I had almost forgotten that song. This song meant something to me,... Thanks Simple Gal.
