http://www.kantipuronline.com/viewdiscussion.php?id=20&disid=12409 post from one of the readers of kantipur... what do u think guys.. No. The primary reason why this will not happen is that Maoists are not genuinely interested in long lasting peace at the moment. They have got the upper hand on the political ground and have certainly played party and then King against each other more effiecinetly than anyone could have ever imagined, albeit with the help of our friends in the south. We will probably get nowhere from here because the fact is, no matter who is in government they will always have a greater responsibility when you have this kind of fragile truce and the Maoists can break the truce anyday they want, but government forces cannot do the same. The people I hate most, well its my personal opinion, are these stupid human rights activist, who only see everything from the Maoist perspective, and I know why they do it, after all once there is democracy and peace and stability all this idiots will loose their job. Guys likes of Krishna Pahadi driving suv in Kathmandu and giving bullshit about democracy doesn't make sense. These people have vested interest in this conflict going on, and with the parties the less said the better- they have plunged themselves depper and deeper into a state where with so many of their activists in town protesting "regression" they seem to be going nowhere. As for the King, he is surely determined. But I wish he had better people around him. He probably needs to make some tough decisions here. And the other important factor is, with the King or without the King, the Army is always strong. Remember, Pakistan doesn't have a King and for most of last 50 years it has been ruled by the army. So I am not sure where we are heading to. Posted on: 2005-09-06 Posted by: chintamani
