Hi,

I am planning to relocate in Kentwood or Grand Rapids, MI area in very near future. Does any body have any suggestion on which part of the town is good? How to contact Nepali community out there? Any good or bad about Grand Rapids area?
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Not sure about Grand Rapids, but there are nepali communites in Lansing and Waterford though. So you might wanna scoot a little towards East if you really need  be in with Nepalese. Also there are Nepalese in and around Detroit area.One good thing about MI is that it has smaller Nepali Community compared to other states.

I am looking for Nepali community in or around Grand Rapids or at least commutable distance form Grand Rapids.
I did little bit googling and it seems that the winter is terrible. Is it that bad?

- There are definitely Nepali community in GrandRapids ( or nearby Kalamazoo). I dont know them personally though.
- Look for WMU students around.
- Whether in MIchigan is as expected since it is in the North.

Well, I missed this year's  Michigan's snow  in years  but I hear that  it wasn't that bad this time,as a matter of fact there wasn't that much  winter/snow in all of US this year,relatively. I wouldn't say its bad-it just snows and that you have to get used to driving/liging in the snow. Summer and  other seasons are awesome though.So it comes down to the kind of weather you are used to make a sensible comparison. I like it much better than Seattle where it rains all the time. Rain sucks.

Lansing is just one hour drive from Grand Rapids. As Silicon said, there is a small Nepali community in "Greater Lansing" area and they have frequent get together. You will be able to meet almost all of them in every get togethers. I really miss those get togethers and those people. I personally don't know about Grand Rapids, but you can contact "East Lansing Nepali Community" on facebook and post your queries there.
