I have used a county health care through TPS and low income, and state health care insurance one time in California. Will it affect my green card processing if I go through my employer and have a separate health insurance at that moment. I am really confused, Please provide me any insight you have.

state sponsored health care that you used before the public charge rule effective date has no impact at all. it could be an issue if you continue to use it after the effective date (which was on 2/17 or so not sure). this wont solely deny your green card. IO will evaluate a lot of things like your age, employment, education, income etc. if these over weighs, you can still be granted a greencard despite having state sponsored health insurance.

but to be on a safe side and if you are a healthy person, you can give up any sarkari insurance. but if you dont for whatever reason its not gonna impact much as long as you have good income, good education at the time of your GC interview.

Thanks for the reply. what do you mean by 2/17? what year, 2017? do you think even county insurance can be an issue?

2/24/20 was the effective date of this new public charge rule. Any sarkari insurance you've used after this date May impact. And yes county ,state or federal assistance will fall under this category.

His mention of 2/17 (Feb 17, 2020) was about the approximate public charge effective date. It’s actually 2/24. No big deal on 7 days error in approximation. Lol

1) Got it, that was helpful. The reason I asked because the last time, I saw a doctor/PCP was 20th February and I had messaged my PCP on 26th February for a referral and she did yesterday. But I haven't visited any doctor after the 20th of February, 2020, just messaged.
I am def not going to see them in this situation and I can wait.

2) I am curious about Earned Income Credit while filing tax, can we claim that if we get it. Will it affect the green card processing?

Thanks guys for the info and time. I really appreciate it.
